Partial vehicle checks happen when the check completes, but no DVLA data is available.
The DVLA provides us with new registration data once a month. So, if a vehicle is registered between the cut-off date and us getting the data, we won't have data about that vehicle until the following month.
Previously, this would mean the full vehicle check would fail.
What info will I be able to see on a partial check?
A partial check will tell you any useful information you need to know about the vehicle, such as:
- If it has a CAT N status from a previous write-off
- If it has outstanding finance
Good to know: There'll be no data guarantee for a partial vehicle check.
Where part of the check isn't available, we'll show:
- A message to say a 'Partial check returned'
- An 'i' icon instead of a green tick next to the checks we can't complete yet
- A message saying 'check not available' for the checks we can't complete yet
The below example shows a partial check:
Selecting 'Query this check' at the top right of the screen provides additional context about the partial check, including:
- When a full check should be available
- The contact details for the Vehicle Check team
How do I update the check once data is available?
- Open the vehicle in Portal
- Head to the 'Condition and history' tab
- In the 'Vehicle check' section, select the 'Update check' button
