A Category N marker is applied to a vehicle when the vehicle has been in an accident. This is recorded as Category D if applied before October 2017.

This means the vehicle has not sustained damage to the structural frame of the chassis.
The vehicle is suitable for repair, but the insurer deems the cost of the repair unworth while. The damage is non-structural. Some parts, such as the steering and suspension, may need repair for safety reasons.
The vehicle may be broken for spares, sold at auction, or sold back to the original owner to repair.
For a bike specifically, this can be applied if the damage sustained can be repaired solely with paint.
We allow Category N vehicles to be advertised on Auto Trader. Due to the history of Category N vehicles you should expect to pay a higher rate of insurance. We recommend that you check the repairs on the vehicle to make sure they're completed to a good standard. Having a mechanic look over the vehicle before finalising the sale may be worthwhile.
