This means there has been damage to the structural frame or the chassis. The vehicle is suitable for repair, but the cost of the repair is not deemed worth while by the insurer.
The vehicle may be broken for spares, sold at auction, or sold back to the original owner to repair. During the repair, if the original bodyshell, frame or chassis may be replaced. This part will be crushed or returned to the vehicle manufacturer.
We allow Category S vehicles on Auto Trader. Due to the history of Category S vehicles you should expect to pay a higher rate of insurance. We recommend that you check the repairs on the vehicle to make sure they're completed to a good standard. It may be worthwhile having a mechanic look over the vehicle before finalising the sale.
