We advise you not to give any other bank information that a potential buyer could use to scam you. This includes information such as your 16-digit card number or three-digit security code on the back of your card.
Cash is an alternative, but it’s worth considering that you arrange for the handover at a bank. Not only can the staff count out the notes, but they can also guarantee they’re genuine.
If you accept a cheque or banker’s draft, you should confirm with your bank that the funds have cleared before you hand over the car.
Finally, no matter how the money changes hands, the most important thing is to provide a receipt to the buyer and keep a copy for yourself.
