You can only help sell a vehicle on behalf of a member of your family or household. For example, your partner/spouse, child or parent, someone you share an address and/or family name with.
There are two ways to do this:
Register the account in their name
- Make sure you have their permission to do this first.
- Create the account in their name and place the advert.
- If you need to speak to us about the advert, the person must be there to pass security checks. We can only discuss the account with the named account holder for security reasons, so please bear this in mind if you choose this option.

- Create the account under your name and place the advert.
Good to know: Selling a vehicle on behalf of someone outside your family would be considered a trade sale. It's against our Terms and Conditions (section 13.2) and UK law to sell a vehicle as a private seller when it should be a trade sale.
We may carry out checks to verify whether your advert qualifies as a private sale.
