Genuine buyers are happy to speak with you on the phone number listed on your advert.
We'd always recommend asking them to call you on this number. This way, they can't see your real number, and you'll be able to get a sense of whether they're serious about buying your car.
Remember:
- Only share your WhatsApp or address details if you're comfortable and happy to continue talking to the person
- You don't need to share your phone number on WhatsApp if you have a WhatsApp username
- Check that the name the buyer gave you over the phone matches the one on WhatsApp
Good to know: Scammers will often put pressure on sellers to move a conversation to WhatsApp, so they can send you links to fraudulent websites or services.
